FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS...
FLOATING FLOOR:
The soundproofing journey began with a meticulously designed floating floor. This innovative system decouples the studio floor from the room's foundation, minimizing vibrations and impact noise.
DOUBLE WALL:
The studio features a double wall with an airspace in between, separating its framing and providing superior sound isolation from the rest of the building.
COMBINATION OF INSULATION:
Successful sound absorption is all about confusing the soundwave effectively. Insulations of different materials do this job differently, and each has its respective strengths and weaknesses. The combination of closed cell spray foam below the floor and open cell in the ceiling, along with mineral wool insulation in all of the walls, provides a well-rounded system of capable sound disrupters. This unique mixture significantly reduces sound transmission while maintaining exceptional thermal efficiency.
SUSPENDED CEILING:
A suspended ceiling further isolates the studio from any structure-borne noise from above, such as footfall.
ACOUSTICAL PUTTY PADS:
All electrical receptacles and ceiling lights are wrapped with acoustical putty pads, preventing sound leaks and maintaining the standard of acoustic integrity established by the rest of the build.DOUBLE 5/8 DRYWALL
Every wall and the ceiling boasts two layers of 5/8-inch drywall, with a special sound-damping compound called Green Glue sandwiched between each layer and along all seams. Green Glue is a caulk-like product made of a viscoelastic substance that absorbs sound waves and converts them into small amounts of heat. This construction dramatically reduces sound vibrations, ensuring optimal recording and listening conditions.
"SUPERCHUNK" BASS TRAPS:
In each studio corner, 12-inch deep mineral wool bass traps absorb low-frequency waves, contributing to a balanced and controlled acoustic environment.ACOUSTIC PANELS:
To control mid and high-frequency reflections, every surface of the studio is adorned with a combination of 2 and 4-inch acoustic cloud and wall panels made of mineral wool and wrapped in a custom printed duck canvas fabric which offers a balance of durability and acoustic transparency. These not only enhance sound quality but also elevate the studio's aesthetics.INDOW WINDOW INSERT:
With the addition of a custom fitted acoustic window insert from Indow Windows, the original double pane window separating the recording booth from the control room has been enhanced to a triple pane window with multiple air gaps, ensuring minimal sound leakage through the notoriously weak point in any soundproofing build.
